Pets in Danger on Craigslist!!! SHARE!!!
Begging all of you to read and pass this on! You can save a life! Please do not give away free pets on Craigslist. Even on Craigslist’s own site, the dangers are forewarned. “As you may be aware, animals given away for free can, and unfortunately often do, meet gruesome fates. They can end up in the hands of animal abusers like Barry Herbeck, a Wisconsin man who was convicted last year of torturing and killing animals he obtained through “free to good home” ads. He confessed to taking his kids with him when responding to the ads so people would be comfortable turning animals over to him. People known as “bunchers,” who obtain animals illegally from random sources to sell to research facilities for profit, often acquire animals by answering “free to good home” ads.”  Because there are animal abusers out there who spend time on Craigslist looking for free animals.
“Free to good home” dogs and cats are easily obtained for research, dog fighting, baiting, etc.
I don’t know how often this actually happens. There is no real way of knowing.  PLEASE always do a home check/visit for any animal you are placing. Anyone who offers an animal up for adoption should personally visit the home of the potential guardian beforehand and follow up on the adoption later.  Don’t advertise free pets; Do convince others not to. Please sign the petition:  You can help end the cruelty by sharing the truth about animals’ abuse. If you agree that animals feel, suffer, love and the truth about their abuse should be exposed, like this facebook page.  Thank you! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Animal-Cruelty-Exposed/363725540304160.
