Complex Surgeries

Advanced Surgical Care for Your Pet

Some medical conditions require advanced surgical treatment to restore your pet's health and improve their quality of life. At TLC Pet Hospital, our experienced veterinary team performs a variety of complex soft tissue surgeries using modern surgical techniques, advanced anesthesia monitoring, and comprehensive pain management. Whether your pet requires emergency surgery or a planned procedure, we are committed to providing compassionate care before, during, and after surgery.

When Is Complex Surgery Recommended?

Complex surgery may be necessary to treat serious illnesses, traumatic injuries, or conditions that cannot be managed with medication alone. Before recommending surgery, our veterinarians perform a thorough examination and may recommend diagnostic testing, such as bloodwork, X-rays, or ultrasound, to determine the best treatment plan for your pet.

Every patient receives an individualized anesthetic protocol and is closely monitored throughout the procedure to help ensure their safety and comfort.

Complex Surgical Procedures We Perform

Our veterinary team performs a variety of advanced soft tissue surgeries, including:

  • Splenectomy – Surgical removal of the spleen due to trauma, tumors, rupture, or other diseases affecting the organ.
  • Exploratory Abdominal Surgery – Performed to diagnose and treat conditions involving the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, or other abdominal organs when additional evaluation is needed.
  • Cystotomy – Surgery to remove bladder stones, treat urinary tract conditions, or address certain bladder abnormalities.
  • Pyometra Surgery – Emergency surgery to remove an infected uterus in unspayed female dogs and cats. Prompt treatment is critical, as pyometra can become life-threatening if left untreated.
  • Gastropexy – A preventive procedure that secures the stomach to help reduce the risk of gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat, in susceptible breeds.
  • Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) – A specialized surgery most commonly performed in male cats with recurrent urinary blockages to create a wider urinary opening and improve urine flow.
