Pet Wellness

doctor-dogAs with any medical ailment, prevention is key. Your pet’s health is very much the same. We recommend your pet have a physical exam once every year, at the least. Senior and geriatric pets, may require additional care by the doctor. A physical exam gives the doctor the chance to catch any potentially dangerous conditions, and educate you as the pet owner on these conditions. As your pet ages, recommendations may change. Starting at the age of 5 we recommend a mini blood screening, and after the age of 7 we recommend a more comprehensive screening. Feline and Canine Senior Plans are now available! Please contact our staff for any questions that are specific to your pet, we would be glad to assist you!  We also have Adult Wellness Plans available for our younger patients!

Vaccinations

Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major diseases. Today, many immunizations and preventive treatments are available that did not exist just a few years ago. The doctors at TLC Pet Hospital can help you decide what preventive measures are necessary for your pet(s).

Homeagain Microchip

A microchip is a tiny electronic device, about the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is implanted beneath a pet’s skin between the shoulder blades, and stays there for the pet’s entire life. This procedure is as easy and as painless as a vaccination. Each microchip has a unique number. This number, along with information about the owner and pet, are added to a national pet registry. Most veterinarians and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found, and the microchip is scanned, the registry is called and the owner is contacted.
